The music and film industries have always played host to the highest of the high fashions. In most cases, this is not just because of the types of people who tend to gravitate toward these professions. Often, it is a symbol of status to be able to dress up like a freak. Those who can not only get away with doing so, but be venerated for it, have truly arrived in the entertainment business. While most of the world would be far too self conscious to venture outside wearing some of the clothes rocked by Marilyn Manson or Lady Gaga, people in this class of individuals take “expressing yourself” to a whole new level.
Think about it. By the time a person has arrived at a high point in the social echelons of the entertainment industry, they have had to face a lot of personal and financial problems. Often they have been booed, rejected and suffered from the problems that always come about when a person lives an emotionally charged life. So when they get to the level where they can afford to dress however they like, their self confidence doesn’t come out of their money or their fame. It comes from the fact that they know that other people’s opinions don’t really matter. So they can walk around dressed in meat, or looking like a cross between a ghoul and a redneck, and it doesn’t even matter.
The most important point you have to remember when you dress like you’re on top of the world is that you have to feel it. You can’t put on leather pants or clothing studded with metal unless you really feel the part of being a powerful, liberated individual. Otherwise, you’ll just end up looking like a freak who has no fashion sense whatsoever. And if you walk into the meat department with a sewing kit, you have got to know that you have got it going on.
