|PASMAE's Mission is to enhance and promote Musical Arts Education throughout Africa|
Preparations for PASMEC2001 started soon after the August 2000 PASME seminar, which was held in Harare, Zimbabwe. The delegates to this seminar, members of ZaMEA, reported to ZaMEA executive committee that Zambia had successfully bid to hold the first Pan African Society for Music Education in 2001. This was exciting news in ZaMEA circles, especially since it was also reported that the UNESCO regional office had committed itself to supporting the initiative. ZaMEA executive committee decided then that ZaMEA should host PASME2001. A committee to plan and implement this project was constituted (its composition will be outlined later in this document). This report is organised in five parts namely Introduction, Pre-Conference Preparations, The Conference, Post-Conference Tasks and the Summary & Conclusion.
